“Code Art Miami” is CodeArt’s annual event to bring awareness to the need for more gender diversity in computing fields. “Code Art Miami” highlights the creative side of coding and provides a vehicle to inspire girls and young women to learn to code and to showcase their creations.
We challenge girls in grades 4‐12 to submit computer programs that generate art. The art is displayed digitally on flat screens throughout the event space, and prizes are awarded for the best submissions in each category — Animation, Interactive, and 3D. This year there is also a coded Self-Portrait category, and event attendees get to vote to decide the winner in this category!
In addition to the digital art exhibition, there will be introductory coding workshops, interactive “coded art,” a Tech Expo, and inspirational speakers. Activities are open to all ages and genders.
*Net proceeds from the event go towards the CodeArt scholarship fund for women enrolled in one of MDC MAGIC’s two-year computer animation or gaming programs. The goal is to raise enough to fully fund one two-year scholarship.
